Founded in 2001, the Archer Center is where Texas meets the world. As the Washington, D.C., campus of The University of Texas System, the Archer Center provides talented undergraduate and graduate students from across The UT System the opportunity to live, learn, and intern in Washington, D.C.

The Archer Fellowship Program for Undergraduates

The Archer Fellowship Program was established by The University of Texas System in conjunction with former U.S. Representative Bill Archer as a way to bring highly motivated and accomplished undergraduate students to Washington, D.C., to participate in varied internships and attend classes focusing on policy, history, and advocacy. Selection is based on a competitive application process, and each cohort of Archer Fellows is comprised of the best and brightest students from across the UT System.

Given the current spike in COVID-19 cases across the State of Texas, we understand that this has been a challenging time for our campus communities, students, and their families. For this reason, the Archer Center has extended the application deadline for fall 2022 and spring 2023 from February 15 to March 1, 2022, at 11:59 P.M. (CT). Archer Fellowship Program interviews will take place between mid-March and late April. Students selected to participate in the program will be notified by by the first week of May 2022.

Please note: You may enter your application as often as you like between its open date and the deadline. We encourage you to create your application account as soon as possible, so that you can send an official recommendation request notification to your recommenders long before the deadline. Further instructions for registering your recommenders can be found within the application once you set up your account. You are also strongly encouraged to read all application instructions on the Archer Center website.

The Graduate Archer Fellowship Program

The Graduate Archer Fellowship Program was established in 2010 by The University of Texas System as a way to bring graduate, doctoral, medical, and law students interested in policy and politics to our nation’s capital to learn about the federal government and public service. Graduate Archer Fellows live, learn and work in the heart of Washington, D.C., during the summer. Selection is based on a competitive process, and we are pleased to be able to offer this experience to highly motivated students of The University of Texas System.

The application deadline for the Summer 2022 Graduate Program in Public Policy is Wednesday, November 3, 2021, by 11:59 pm Central Standard Time (CST). Students selected as Archer Fellows will be notified on or before Wednesday, December 15, 2021. At this time, the Archer Center is planning for an in-residence summer 2022 program.
